Hogtrails LLC. Wacky name. Fun, serious business.
On September 14, 1984, Paul Wittwer had his
fill of the retail securities brokerage industry.
For just under two years and based in the Louisville,
KY office of J. C. Bradford and Company he
was in the top 20% of producers in the firm
in less than a year. His aggressive marketing
and personal reputation for providing his clients
with advice they could trust led many clients
to him on referral. However many of his successful
business clients said they would rather buy
another business than invest in the market.
At the same time there were people who came
to him trying to raise capital for their own
businesses or acquisitions.
He left Bradford and started his own firm,
Wittwer & Associates on an investment of
$114 in letterhead and business cards and borrowed
office furniture. His vision – provide
intermediary services to middle market companies
seeking to acquire or divest businesses. He
also focused on capital acquisition for growing
businesses. His aggressive marketing and precocious
ability to understand a wide variety of businesses
and industries allowed him to develop a strong
client base and reputation. In less than four
years, Wittwer & Associates was recognized
by Securities Data Publishing as one of the
top three hundred firms of its kind in the
United States. Just as in his securities brokerage
days, Wittwer & Associates was guided by
Paul’s prudent man rule, never create
or promote a transaction in which he would
not place his own money at risk.
In the early 1990’s Paul added an office
and staff and decided to rename the business
to reflect a different image. Wittwer & Associates
became AMVentures and began to expand its offerings
to include crisis management and valuations.
Turnarounds, workouts, acquisitions and divestures
became the main stay. Creation and implementation
of strategic initiatives and alliances soon
became an integral part of the business.
In the late 1998 Paul decided to take his business
in yet another direction. Tired of overhead,
stationary office location and staff, he began
to look at downsizing and becoming mobile.
In 2000 he began to seriously consider the
advantages of going mobile in a diesel motorcoach.
In 2001 he bought his first motorcoach and
began to discover a new dimension in consulting – to
the door delivery. On January 14, 2002 he decided
to sell his home in Louisville and all of its
contents and go fulltime in his coach. To reflect
his new dimension and delivery channel, AMVentures
once again took a new name, Hogtrails LLC this
time to reflect Paul’s life long love
affair with Harley-Davidson motorcycles and
hitting the trail in his motorcoach. Besides
you can’t say Hogtrails without smiling!
It simply sounds like FUN!
In 2002, both Paul and Hogtrails LLC domiciled
in beautiful Tampa, FL. Today Hogtrails develops
relationships with business owners, major corporations,
multi-disciplined industry professionals and
capital sources while creating opportunities
for its clients with the same vigilance of
Paul’s prudent man rule. Energy. Resolve.
